The New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP) has said that a new dawn is here in Nigeria as it unveils it new logo and constitution to Nigerian voters and general public
The Party at a press conference by its Chairman Dr.Ajuii Ahmed during the weekend said that henceforth the logo will adorn ballot papers in every election in Nigeria,
This the party said followed the approval of the logo by the only body charged with the responsibility of registering and monitoring the activities of political Parties and managing elections in Nigeria- the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The unveiling of the new logo was earlier done at the National Executive Committee NEC meeting of the party on Friday, April 5, 2024 and the National Convention of Saturday April 6, 2024.
The conference according to the party is to present the Logo to Nigerian voters everywhere as the logo they should look out for in ballot papers henceforth anywhere they want to cast their ballot for NNPP in any election held in Nigeria.
However, the party has clarified that due to logistics, INEC will still use the old logo for the off-season September 21, 2024 Governorship election in Edo State and the re-run election coming up in Kano State afterwards.
Nontheless, beginning with the November 16, 2024 off-season Governorship election in Ondo State, this new logo will be on the ballot papers.
The party therefore enjoins voters in these states mentioned above i.e. Edo, Kano and Ondo States to take note.of this latest development in the party
The party leadership thanked the management and entire staff of INEC for their thorough and diligent process of working on the request to change not only our logo, but the constitution of the party in order to bring them in line with best standards in democratic practice and promote the widest participation of Nigerians.
The party further said that with the approval of the new constitution which contains the new logo, new flag and the new slogan, NNPP has now been given to the Nigerian people to manage.
It added that it is no longer a party managed by a just few transactional politicians.
The party revealed that the experience in the last general elections when the old logo with its many colors posed a great challenge in the production of the ballot papers gave us a clear indication that, for the party, going forward, there was an urgent need to do something about the logo.
It also observed that in some cases, the party’s voters were confused by the way the old logo came out in the ballot papers across the country.
It however said that the party did not blame anybody, neither did it go to tribunals to challenge anyone on account of the way the logo came out in ballot papers throughout the country.
Instead of going that way, the party said that it went on a mission of dialogue and wide consultations within and outside the party that led it to take the position it took on the new logo and constitution.
The party also calls on all the States’ Independent Electoral Commissions SIECs across the country to take notice of this new development in the democratic journey of this great country.
It said that all SIECs should feature this new logo in ballot papers for Local Government elections in all States of the Federation.
The party also congratulated all members of NNPP family for this new and historic development in the political party
