NSCDC, KAS move to promote inter – agencies collaboration

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) have organized a 3-Day Seminar on Inter-Agency Collaboration and Coordination and Alternative Disputes Resolution (ADR.

According to a press release from the Public Relations Officer, NSVDC National Headquarters, Abuja, CSC Babawale Zaid Afolabi Thursday, the training witnessed the attendance of operatives of the Nigeria Police, the Armed Forces, NSCDC and Correctional Service.

At its opening ceremony in Abuja, the Commandant General (CG) of the NSCSC, Ahmed Audu emphasized the importance of interagency collaboration and peaceful coexistence as a nation. The CG said it is quite obvious that no agency can effectively address the emerging security threats in the country alone; therefore, effective collaboration and coordination are very essential.

Hw therefore stated that collaboration among security personnel is crucial for effective information and intelligence sharing, enhanced response, building of trust, improved public safety, and promoting peace and stability, among others. Audi explained that the workshop offers a unique opportunity to share knowledge and experiences in building stronger partnerships and resolving conflicts peacefully.

“As an agency, we recognize our critical role in community peace, stabilization and conflict resolution; hence, the need to explore innovative approaches to Alternative Dispute Resolution, leveraging our diverse expertise to promote social cohesion can not be overemphasized, he added”.

Earlier, the country representative of KAS, who was represented by Mr Lukas Laible, explained that KAS is part of the German political foundation to promote democracy, good governance, and the rule of law and foster good relationships between the Republic of Germany and its host community. Lukas said the seminar is one of the interventions of the organization that bring about an improvement in the peace process in Nigeria.

“KAS is conducting a training Centre in five of the six geographical zones of Nigeria in the area of interagency collaboration, coordination and cooperation, he added,” while encouraging the participants to maximize the opportunities available at the seminar as they will serve as multipliers of the gains of the programme.
