APC chairmanship aspirant commends Tinubu on arms bill

The Anambra state APC Chairmanship aspirant, Chief Ikenna Anonye has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the bill to establish a National Arms Control Center.

This move, according to him, is expected to restore human sanctity and curb insurgency in Nigeria by regulating arms and light weapons through a centralized hub.

He said that the National Arms Control Center will play a crucial role in addressing the country’s security challenges.

In a statement made available to journalists, he stated that by controlling the circulation of illicit arms, the government can reduce the risk of violence and promote peace.

“This development is a significant step towards achieving a more secure and stable Nigeria.

“As an APC chieftain, Chief Anonye has shown his commitment to the party’s goals, including contesting for the chairmanship position, my support for the National Arms Control Center demonstrates my dedication to the well-being and safety of Nigerians”, he submits.

He listed key benefits of the National Arms Control Center to include: Enhanced Security, regulating arms and light weapons to reduce violence and insurgency, promoting peace, controlling illicit arms circulation to create a safer environment and restoring human sanctity as well as protecting citizens from armed conflicts and human rights abuses, which he said, align with his
vision for a more secure Nigeria, hence, his leadership ambitions for Anambra state.
