2024 Igbo Day holds in Abuja

A solemn celebration to mark the 2024 Igbo Day will hold on Sunday, September 29, at Christian Centre, Abuja.

Barrister Emejulu Okpalaukwu Okpalaezeukwu said this would be the first time the Presidency is giving national recognition to Igbo Day celebration which has become an annual event.

According to the invitation made available to ‘The Authority’ and signed by Barr. Okpalaezeukwu and Rev. Obinna Akukwe on behalf of the planning committee, the solemn celebration which goes with the theme, “Almighty God is The Strength of Ndi Igbo & All Nations”, will be attended by the chairmen of ‘Eze Ndigbo no Uzo Ije'(Igbos in other states) in the 19 Northern states of Nigeria and Abuja Federal Capital Territory.

The press statement reveals that Bishop STV Adegbite PhD. ES. NCPC will be the guest preacher at the solemn celebration which will begin at 11am at Christian Centre.Abuja.

The statement further said the Deputy President General Ndi EzeIgbo Worldwide, Eze Dr. Uche Egenti, Mrs. Maria Okwor, Nne Ndi Igbo cum Founder/ First President Igbo Women Association(IWA).among others,will attend the solemn celebration.

The 2024 Igbo Day celebration scheduled to hold on Sunday at Abuja is not in tandem with the declaration of the National Executive Committee(NEC) which has reiterrated it’s suspension of the 2024 Igbo Day celebration,earlier scheduled to hold at Owerri Imo state, as a mark of honour to it’s President General,Late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, whose funerals will commence in the month of October.

In a telephone chat,vBarr.Okpalaezeukwu said his group will work assiduosly with the burial committee and South East Governors, in giving Chief Iwuanyanwu an international recognised beffitting funerals.
