The Niger State Government has taken significant steps to bolster its partnership with Kent State University, fostering cooperation in higher education, development, business, and investment. A delegation from Niger State, led by Hon. Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mustapha Ndajiwo, recently visited Kent State University.

Accompanied by Special Advisers Dr. Murtala Muhammad Bagana, Hauwa Bako, and Abdulakeem Oshinuga, the delegation met with representatives from the Office of Global Education, Department of Administration, Ohio Governor’s Office, and Kent State University’s Provost.

During the visit, Hon. Commissioner Ndajiwo signed a Letter of Intent with Kent State’s Provost, solidifying the partnership initiated by His Excellency Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago. This agreement paves the way for specific initiatives in the pilot phase of the collaboration.

A key outcome of this partnership is the establishment of a center at Abdulkadir Kure University in Minna, Niger State. The center will oversee various programs, including a two-plus-two degree initiative, enabling undergraduate students from Niger State to complete two years of study in Nigeria and two years in the United States at reduced tuition.

Students will also have the option to study fully online from Nigeria, earning either a U.S. degree or a dual degree (U.S. and Nigerian). Other areas of collaboration include student and lecturer exchange programs, executive and leadership programs, aviation studies, vocational skills development, fashion, sports, and investment opportunities through the State of Ohio.

This partnership promises to deliver significant benefits across various sectors, enhancing educational opportunities, economic development, and cultural exchange between Niger State and Kent State University.

As the partnership continues to grow, Niger State and Kent State University are poised to explore new avenues for collaboration, driving progress and innovation in the regions. The launch of the center at Abdulkadir Kure University marks a significant milestone in this partnership.
