In a bid to expand and explore the intellectual potentials of academic staff of DUFUHS for maximum output and academic excellence, the Vice Chancellor of David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences, Uburu, Prof.Jesse Uneke has awarded letters for release of funds for Masters, Ph.D scholarship, Conferences and Institution-Based Research Grants to the academic staff of the university.
The Vice Chancellor announced this during the academic staff meeting held in the University.
In attendance during the meeting were principal officers of the school including Provost of the college, Deputy Provost, Directors , Deans, HODs, and all other academic staff.
The major issues in the agenda includes:Presentation of Award Letters and Release of Funds to Beneficiaries of: Masters and PhD Scholarship, Conferences (National and International)Institution-based Research Grants, Registration with International Academic Association; setting Committee for University Research Policy.
The Vice Chancellor,Prof.Jesse Uneke used the medium to appreciate the Academic staff for honoring the invitation and for their exceptional contributions towards the growth and development of the school, adding that the university management is genuinely interested in the academic progress of the school.
The Vice Chancellor stated that it is for the overall interest of academic staff to align with the activities of the university as the management is doing everything possible to transform academic staff, urging them not to be left behind when instructions are being giving because the system will not wait for anybody.
Prof.Uneke further noted that we have only 3 years to put the university on the world map.He urged the lecturers to stay behind and watch it happen before 2025.
Concerning the award of scholarships,the Vice Chancellor awarded scholarship to 79 academic staff of the university; 18 received letters for Institution-Based Research, while 20 academic staff are for International and Local conferences.
After the award presentation,he encouraged them to always abide by the school philosophy and motto,and also expressed optimism that, he will soon lunch another Institutional-Based Research where 60 persons will be given 2million each for the research, adding that it is a funded research that will take a year and 6 months to accomplish.He further urged them to apply for conferences that is 5 months away to enable the university facilitate it with TETFUND.
Concerning Local and international Conferences, the Vice Chancellor urged the lecturers to always show active participation and also bring back evidence of participation including; Flight ticket,Visa,Paper presented,etc.He explained that active participation in every conference will ensure their academic growth and development.And also bring partnership and Collaboration that will market the university globally, adding that the international academic spaces recognizes individual more than the institution.
In order to make more global impact,the Vice Chancellor encouraged them to register with International Academic Associations.
