The Prime Minister of the Biafra Government in Exile, Simon Ekpa, has expressed excitement over the participation of the Biafra Under-19 Team in a European football tournament, describing it as a milestone that signifies growing international recognition of Biafra’s independence.
Ekpa made the assertion in a statement posted on his official X handle on Saturday.
He emphasized that the development underscores Biafra’s emergence as a nation within the global community.
According to Ekpa, the Biafra team is scheduled to compete against SL Benfica, winners of the UEFA Youth Championships, in the Algarva football tournament in Portugal on Saturday.
Highlighting the significance of the event, Ekpa stated that the Biafran team’s performance would demonstrate resilience and showcase the functionality of Biafra’s government institutions, including its Ministry of Sports.
“It is gratifying to see that Biafra has come to stay.
With the Biafra Under-19 team featuring in the Algarva Elite Football Tournament in Portugal, which commenced on November 14 and is expected to end on November 18, 2024.
“Biafra has succeeded!
“We will defeat all our opponents in the tournament to prove to the world and the Nigerian government that Biafrans are indomitable,” he said.
It is worth recalling that Simon Ekpa had announced plans to declare Biafra’s independence on December 2, 2024.
