Comprehensive Secondary School, Nawfia, (Anambra Stata) Oldboys Association ,CSSNO, has elected new executives to pilot the affairs of the association in the next three years with 1981 set’s Mr. Emmanuel Okechukwu emerging as National President Worldwide of the Association.
Others elected were Engr. Michael Lance Okafor aka Chika Okafor, 88 set as Deputy National President, Prof. Ogonna Ifebi 89 set as National Secretary General, with three Vice-Presidents: Okwudili Ubalo 81set VP 1 for Diaspora, Kenneth Igbonekwu 81 set VP2 West, and Engr Defense Esimone 85 set VP 3 North.
Others are Dr Chikezie Anyikwa 2004 as Assistant Secretary, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu,PhD 95 set as National Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Nwanna 81 set as Financial Secretary, Engr James Nkwoji 88 set as Treasurer, Chisom Okagbu 2008 set as Social Secretary and Barr. Ikechukwu Okeke 98 set as Legal Adviser as well as Mr. Victor Nwoye 78 set as Internal Auditor.
The international convention of the Oldboys attracted many influential members of the association including SP 1973 set , Sir Eric Anachebe, and an oldboy Hon Ibemeka Chidi representing Njikoka 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly who served as the returning officer for the election among others.
The 1984 set were in their glory wearing the Navy Blue and white school uniform. MD/CEO of Millennium Industries Awka was with them. They came to the venue though late after their first 2 days residential Alumni reunion at Vertex View hotel Nibo since 40 years after graduation.
In his acceptance speech, the President, Comprehensive Secondary School, Nawfia Oldboys Association Worldwide, Mr Emmanuel Okechukwu admitted there is daunting task before him but assured to navigate to impressive feats with the support and solidarity of all the sets in the Oldboys Association Worldwide. He tasked all sets to mobilize and galvanize themselves for the task ahead in restoring the school to its former glory.
While handing over the mantle of leadership to the newly elected president, the immediate past President of the Comprehensive Secondary School, Nawfia Oldboys Association Worldwide, Dr Oliver Onwughalu expressed confidence on the new executive led by Mr Emmanuel Okechukwu and appealed for support to ensure they succeed.
Principal of the school, Ven.Dr Nnamdi Emendu prayed for the elected officials to succeed even as he encouraged them to champion the development of their almamata seamlessly by using sets inn championing the development.
Several priests and professionals who went through the school attended the convention that would be rounded off with a church Thanksgiving at St Michael’s and All Angel’s Anglican Church, Nawfia.
At the remediation Thanksgiving, the vicar, Venerable Onyinyechukwu Ilione emphasized on the good spirit of founding fathers of the Comprehensive Secondary School Nawfia including CT Onyekwelu, Rev Ikejiana, Hon. Akanubiam Francis among others even as he employed the Old Boys to emulate these characters in demonstrating love to their mother school.
Ven Ilione reminded all oldboy of their paramount position as the most constant stakeholders in the school, while the teachers, government, PTA among others come and go , but the Old Boys remain forever.
Special prayers for the Boys after presentation of offerings featured ,even as the National President Mr Emma Okechukwu addressed the congregation, pledging his dedication and commitment to the school and the host community.
The Oldboys were entertained at Mayrose hotel, Amawbia as hosted by 2002 set. It was funfair all through.
