In a bid to enhance the productivity of staff at the Ministry of Interior, Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has commissioned several new facilities at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja.
These facilities, according to a press statement from the Director, Press and Publiç Relations, Ozoya Imohimi over the weekend, include a standard fully equipped clinic, three electric motorcycles, a staff bus, a standard gym with a creche, and a 500 KVA generator to ensure a constant power supply.
The provision of these facilities is in line with Pillar Six of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP-25), which focuses on improving the welfare and well-being of civil servants. This move demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to creating a conducive work environment that supports the health, well-being, and productivity of its staff.
During the commissioning ceremony, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, conducted the Minister on a tour of the projects. Notably, the gym has been named the “Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo Wellness Centre” in recognition of the Minister’s contributions to the welfare of staff.
This development is part of the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen its capacity and deliver on its mandate. The Ministry of Interior has been working to enhance its service delivery through various initiatives, including the adoption of advanced technology and the implementation of a Performance Management System (PMS).
The Minister has also emphasized the importance of staff welfare and professionalism in achieving the Ministry’s goals. During a meeting with the Joint Union Negotiating Council (JUNC), Dr. Tunji-Ojo reiterated his commitment to staff welfare and urged staff to remain committed to service as the country navigates towards prosperity.
