The senator specifically commended the NEDC’s efforts in providing humanitarian assistance, including the construction of houses for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the provision of livelihood materials. However, he stressed the importance of enhancing the region’s infrastructure, particularly roads and bridges.

Regarding education, Senator Lawan revealed that the NEDC has allocated approximately N12 billion for scholarship and educational initiatives in the North East. He assured that his committee would closely monitor the implementation of this project to ensure its success.

In response to a question about the NEDC’s response to the recent floods in the region, Senator Lawan reported that the Managing Director of the NEDC stated that the commission did not receive any grants, loans, or donations like others.

As a distinguished senator and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Special Duties, Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan (SAN) continues to advocate for the development and growth of the North East region.
