Says registration portal strained since his interest

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has hailed the defection of former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing him as a “game-changer” whose entry into the party marks a significant boost to its political strength ahead of future elections.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi on Monday, the party said Kwankwaso’s decision reflects a growing consensus among Nigerians on the need for a credible alternative political platform.

According to the ADC, the former presidential candidate has directed his supporters nationwide to join the party, a move that has already triggered a surge in registrations on its online platform within the last 24 hours.

“Senator Kwankwaso’s decision speaks to what many Nigerians already feel—that the country needs leadership that understands the challenges people face daily and is ready to fix them,” Abdullahi said.

He noted that Kwankwaso’s experience, grassroots appeal, and leadership qualities would strengthen the party’s vision of rebuilding Nigeria.

The event was attended by key party leaders, including National Chairman David Mark and National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, alongside prominent political figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi.

The party said the development underscores its growing momentum as it positions itself as a platform for national renewal.
