Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, has denied reports by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that the party helped him secure victory in last Saturday’s governorship election.
Adeleke said he had no electoral deal, agreement or partnership with the ADC before, during or after the election, Accor to a press statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.
The governor, who again attributed his re-election to God and the people of Osun State, said the ADC was not part of the political coalition that canvassed support for his re-election bid.
Adeleke commended the political partners who supported his campaign, saying their sacrifices contributed to making the election a victory for the people of the state.
“I commend political partners who went all out to make Saturday a victory day for all Osun people. But we must clarify for the sake of history that ADC was never part of the alliance,” the governor said.
He said the clarification was necessary to set the record straight on the circumstances surrounding his victory in the August 15 governorship election.
Adeleke, however, declared that the conclusion of the election had ushered in a new phase of governance in which he would serve all residents of the state irrespective of their political affiliations.
“Now that the election is over, I am a governor of all Osun people irrespective of political groups, religion or race,” he said.
