From Francis Nansak, Lafia
Former Minister of Information and Culture, Mr. Labaran Maku, was on Wednesday quizzed and released by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Nasarawa State.
Maku, who is the National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) confirmed to journalists that he was interrogated for one hour and later freed by the DSS.
He was however silent on why he was invited by the secret police. He said that it had nothing to do with the speculations in the social media and charged politicians to desist from shedding the blood of innocent Nigerians because of the 2019 general elections.
The APGA scribe spoke in Lafia, the state capital shortly after he returned from the DSSa office.
He urged politicians to join hands and bring peace and development to their communities instead of promoting violence and bloodshed.
According to him, as politicians, a?we could disagree on issues, but that does not mean that we are enemies,a? adding that disagreement is an attribute of a democratic system.
He further advised leaders to serve their people and the country with every sense of patriotism so that they could still walk freely after they were not in office.
Maku said: a?I was a Commissioner, Deputy Governor in Nasarawa State and a Minister at the federal level, but today I am no longer in position, but I can still move around freely because I served the country well and refused to be corrupt.a?
a?So, leaders should understand that the authority and privilege of every public office would surely end one day whether we like it or not.”
