The Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Professor Kaniye Ebeku has charged staffs working in the ministry to be of good conduct so as to achieve successful development in the ministry.
Prof Ebeku who is bent on working in line with the developmental policies of the Governor, Nyesom Wike, vow to execute the ‘New Rivers Vision’ of the Governor in the education sector.
The Commissioner stated during a maiden meeting with the Permanent Secretary, Dagogo Hart and Directors of the Ministry of Education, shortly after he assumed duty in the ministry.
He said “His Excellency the Governor has sent me here and as well known I am a thorough going professional. I will seek to pursue His Excellency policies to the core. Anything that will deviate from the said target he has set, I will not be part of it”.
He solicited for support of the Permanent Secretary and Directors of the ministry in driving the vision and the mission of the Ministry.
On staff attitude to work, he warned that he will not tolerate any for laxity to work, and enjoined all heads of departments to ensure that their staff live up to their duty and official responsibilities.
The commissioner stressed that “if at this time, you have not resumed work, you will answer questions”, adding that “truancy will not be tolerated”.
Speaking at the meeting, the Permanent secretary, Dagogo Hart assured the commissioner of the unflinching support of Directors and staff of the Ministry.
He expressed readiness on the part of Ministry staffs to work with the commissioner to achieve the dreams and aspirations of the state Governor.
“Let me on behalf of the Directors and staffs welcome you back to the terrain you have traded on before now. When we were with you, you were very kind to us and things moved on well with us.
“We are still what we are, we have not changed and we are ready to help you succeed, to make the ministry move forward because we know your worth, we know your capacity and know what you could be able to achieve”, Dr Hart added.
