From Maduabuchi Nmeribeh, Kano

The Majority Leader of Kano state House of Assembly, Abdul Labaran Madari has been impeached.

Madari suffered impeachment on Wednesday during the House Plenary session.

His impeachment came on the heels of a Motion of Urgent Importance (MUI) moved by the member representing Bunkure Constituency, Muhammad Uba Gurjiya.

Twenty two members of the House supported Muhammad Uba Gurjiya impeachment motion, which eventually caused Madari his exalted position in the House, even as the member representing Dambatta Constituency, Murtala Musa Kore seconded the Motion to impeach the Majority Leader.

When the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Abdulaziz Garba Gafasa asked for the adoption of the Impeachment Motion, the whole House chorused in support of it.

Shortly after the adoption of the Impeachment Motion, member representing Sumaila Constituency Zubairu Hamza Masu moved a motion nominating Deputy Majority Leader, Kabiru Hassan Dashi as the new Majority Leader and member representing Minjibir Constituency, Tasi’u Ibrahim Zabainawa as the new Deputy Majority Leader.

The motion was immediately seconded by member representing Karaye, Nasiru Abdullahi Dutsen Amare.

The House ratified and approved the Motion, inaugurating the duo as Majority Leader and Deputy Majority Leader of the House, respectively.
