A business man, Mr Victor Oshioreamhe Ikioda, has called on governments at both state and federal levels to take strategic steps to stop what he described as harmful traditional practices. He disclosed that his life is in danger for standing up against cultists and as such, has been on the run owing to the fact that his adversaries are after him.
He therefore, called on men and women of good conscience to prevail on traditionalists in his hometown, Jattu, Estako West Local Government Area of Edo state, to stop harassing him over his refusal to succumb to their diabolical request to submit himself and family members for initiation into a cult.
Speaking with journalists from his hideout, Mr lkioda in an emotion laden voice, narrated the traumatic and life -threatening experiences he and his wife have had to endure in standing against barbaric and retrogressive traditional practices of his people.
He decried the wave of impunity in the country where privileged and influential people with vast social, financial and political connections seek to undermine the law and impose their beliefs on others under the guise of preserving culture and tradition.
He further called on federal and state governments to strengthen existing laws against obnoxious traditional and cultural practices.
