Strong-willed individuals and corporate organisations continue with donations in cash and kind to the Kano state Fund Raising Committee on COVID-19 to assist mitigate the effects of the deleterious virus devastating the global community.
The state Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba and member of the committee announced in a statement that the the latest donors include NESTLE Nigeria Plc which donated products worth N32, 000, 000.00.
The products include 1,436 golden morn, 157 of 20g Milo, 64 Milo RTD, 2,692 maggi cubes, 387 maggi MIXPY and 785 maggi.
He gave the list of other donors/donations as follows:
NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture & Bovas, Toyota ambulance, 2 ventilator machines, 10, 000 nose masks, 250 face shield, respiratory nose masks, 5, 000 hand gloves, 1 rescupac ventilator, 100 overall full kits, 1,000 shoes, 10 pulse oximetres, 200 disposal caps, 500 surgical masks:
The Light Charitable Group, 3 bags of 50kg of rice, one bag of 50kg sugar, 2 bags of 50kg flour, one gallon of 25 litre vegetable oil;
Alhaji Ahmad Rabi’u, 5 bags of 50kg rice, 3 bags of beans, 100 tubers of yam, 5 bags of 50kg gari, 5 bags of guinea corn;
Alhaji Imran Sabo (Al-Wabel), 100 bags of 50kg rice: Ustaz Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan, 15 bags of guinea corn; Muhammad Abba, 10 bags of maize; Dr. Yakubu Maigida Kachako, 2 cartons of herbal sanitiser and his April 2020 Pension Allowance.
Cash donations came from the following individuals and corporate bodies:
Secretary to the Kano State Government (SSG), Head of Service (HOS), 37 Permanent Secretaries, Auditor- General, Chief Registrars, N1, 000, 000.00;
Henry Enterprises, N300, 000.00; Kano state Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), N300, 000.00; Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Garba Karaye (Sarkin Karaye), N250, 000.00; Alhaji Tasiu Sank Ibrahim Maitangaran, N200, 000.00; and Usman International Schools, N250, 000.00.
Malam Garba appealed to organizations and wealthy individuals within and outside the state to donate generously towards the committee set up to seek and collect donations in cash or kind and distribute same to those in need so as to cushion the harsh effect of the measures being taken by government against the spread of Covid-19 in Kano.
The statement stated that, anyone willing to donate to the committee in cash should pay/transfer to this account: Kano State COVID-19 Support, UBA, Account No: 1022751785, while donations in kind are also collected at a warehouse at number 94, Maganda Road and Kano State Government Printing Press, Emir’s Palace.
