Rotary International has donated medical equipment worth N15 million to the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), Port Harcourt.
Presenting the equipment to the management of the hospital on Tuesday, District Governor, Rotary International District 9141, Dr Nze Anizor, said it is part of the club’s area of focus in health delivery.
Dr Anizor noted that the equipment will aid the hospital in treatment COVID-19 cases, stressing that same equipment were distributed to other hospitals across the states of the district coverage.
“We are here to donate medical equipment to the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital from Rotary.
“We are actually doing this for five hospitals, Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, Asaba Specialist Hospital, Irua Specialist Hospital, Central Hospital Warri, Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa.
“We just selected hospitals in each of the states that handle COVID-19 patients and this is part of our contributions supporting the hospitals get better care of patients during this pandemic.
“Some of the equipment were donated are Patient Monitor, Oxygen Concentrator, Pulse Oximeter, Suction machine, AED, Automatic hand sanitizer dispenser, 3- part Haematology Analyser, Haemoglobinometer with strips and Chemistry Analyser. We have roughly about N15million equipments here,” he said.
Rtn Dr Charles Akigbe, President Rotary club of Mgbuogba and outgoing President, Rtn Chinedu Ikegwanyi who spoke with our correspondent noted that the equipment will aid in the fight against the dreaded coronavirus.
Dr Akigbe said: “The equipment is part of the district grant that Rotary International provide either to the District or Club to use to buy equipment to supplement the efforts of the hospital is making. The more equipment the better they will enhance service delivery.
“The action is within Rotary International Area of focus in terms of Disease prevention and treatment and control and also maternal and child care”.
Receiving the equipment, Chief Medical Director of RSUTH, Dr Aaron Friday, applauded the Rotary Club District 9141 for their benevolent in supporting the well-being of the state in terms of provision of health equipment.
