The 24 members of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, have set the governor’s senior special adviser on Urban Development, Architect Stanley Buba on a hot seat.
Architect Stanley Buba was summoned by the lawmakers to appear before them on Wednesday to defend what they described as over stepping the rules of his engagement, while there is a subsisting Managing Director who is the chief accounting officer of the board.
Against this backdrop, the House after a motion that was raised by the House Committee Chairman on Urban Development, Honourable Suleiman Yakubu Azara, said the issue was under public importance.
However, when the Senior Special Adviser ,Stanley Buba, who was presented with various documents that indicated he was unduly assuming position which is the prerogative of the MD , instead of playing an advisory role, he disclosed that his role included approving of certain functions, claiming that such authority was spelt out in his letter of appointment.
To this end, the House members who were not satisfied with Mr Stanley Buba’s claims decided that the SSA step aside from office.
The speaker, Honourable Ibrahim Balarabe, however said that the decision taken by the House on the need for the SSA to step aside was to ensure thorough investigation on the activities of the NUDB in the state.
He said that the appearance of the SSA followed the House resolution of Monday, Sept. 7,2020 for the SSA to give some clarifications on the activities of the board in the state.
“Based on the resolution of the House, it is resolved that the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Gov. Abdullahi Sule on Development Control, Arc. Stanley Buba should step aside to enable the committee to carry out its duties effectively without interference.
