Residents of Awe local government area in Nasarawa state have appealed for the return of the chairman of Awe local government, Abubakar Dan’Akano, due to his antecedents and outstanding performance during his tenure as chairman which terminates on Friday, May 28, 2021.
The residents passed a vote of confidence on the chairman at a town hall meeting held in Awe by Governor Abdullahi Sule.
The AUTHORITY reports that on Thursday, Governor Abdullahi Sule had a meeting with the thirteen local government chairmen of the state, where he bid them farewell as their three year tenure elapse.
The governor stated that some of them will be returned as Transition Management Committee (TMC), as the state electoral body prepares to conduct elections in no distant time.
At the town hall meeting with residents of Awe LGA, Governor Sule had called for a remark on the chairman’s performance during his three year tenure which the people voiced a vote of confidence on him due to his excellent performance.
The governor after the voice vote appreciated the chairman for his efforts in improving the livelihood of the people in the area with his people-oriented policies during his tenure.
“One of the complaints I have received from other places which I have not received from here indicated that your chairman is a very lucky person.
“The chairman completes his three years in office and we will bid him farewell, but because of the way you people have embraced the chairman, I believe this chairman is coming back,” Governor Sule said.
The governor also used the opportunity to appreciate the people of Awe for the kind of support given to his administration and also appreciated the traditional ruler of Awe, Alhaji Isa Abubakar for his efforts in maintaining peace and stability in the area.
Some of the achievements by the council chairman include ; construction of 600 open shades in Awe town, completion of Mahanga, Baure, and Tunga town electrification projects as well as the purchase of 500,KVA transformer in Azara among others.
