Traditional rulers in Gwer -East Local Government Area of Benue State have urged Governor Samuel Ortom, to provide support for Lightbe for the benefit of the rural populace.
Chairman of the council, His Royal Highness (HRH) Dominic Akpe, made the appeal at Aliade, Gwer East Local Government Area of the state during a demonstration on solar power box, a project intended to bring electricity to homes and offices.
The AUTHORITY gathered that the project has Mr Ityough Ahondo Micheal, an indigene of the area as it’s Chief facilitator.
The Ter Gwer observed that unemployment remains a key threat to security, noting that with availability of electricity, young people will be gainfully engaged.
“One of the biggest challenges society is facing today is unemployment. The number people, who are not engaged is alarming and the number is growing by the day,” His Highness said. According to him, government intervention in the project will no doubt improve the rural economy
He added that Gwer East Traditional Council has accepted the technology and looks forward to when it will get to the people.
Lightbe Global Limited, according to Ityough Ahondo Michael, is been sponsored by United States based investors with the aim of bringing light to the door step of Nigerian homes and offices through solar energy systems.
Thousands of direct jobs are expected to be created, with the technology, Ityough added.
The energy box is designed, based on need, with carrying capacities for electricity supply needed to serve the needs of homes and offices.
