Imo PDP chairman, Ezekwem, dumps party

Amidst speculations of a looming mass defection from the opposition parties to the All Progressives Congress (APC) this week in Imo state, the state’s chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Charles Ezekwem, yesterday resigned from the party and his position

Ezekwem in his resignation letter on Monday in Owerri, said his decision to abandon PDP, was as a result of what he described as prevailing circumstances, adding that the decision also received the blessing of his teeming supporters

Ezekwem, who is yet to make official his new political moves, is currently the Chairman of Heartland Football Club of Owerri, where he is said to be facing an imminent sack as a result of his political affiliation

“I hereby tender my resignation as state chairman of PDP, Imo state and as a member of the party in the ward of Okigwe LGA, which has been duly communicated to the ward of Okigwe LGA. “I thank the teeming population of Imo state PDP, who thoughtfully elected me as their state chairman.

“I sincerely regretted the inconveniences the party faced. I thank the party for the support they gave me and the opportunity to serve in that capacity.” Ezekwem’s letter read in parts
