The member representing Gombe South Senatorial District, Sen. Bulus Amos, has asked for the establishment of an Information Technology Institute at Billiri, in Gombe state.
In a statement issued by Abdul Lauya, Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity), Amos made the request through a bill he presented for an act to provide for the establishment of the Institute, titled: “A Bill for an Act to Provide for the Establishment of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology Billiri, Gombe State; and for other Related Matters Connected therewith, 2020 (SB. 313).
The statement said, the Bill seeks to provide for full-time and part-time courses in information and communication technology and other fields of studies and the general administration of the institute.
The Senator explained that when passed into law, the Monotechnic would help bridge the gaps between the ICT “haves” and the “have nots”, of which education and training is at the heart of issues and their solutions.
Other objectives of the institute include among other things, “to facilitate and encourage research in all its areas of focus to aid the development of Nigeria in the areas of industry, commerce, technology and engineering.
