Youths protest blasphemy of Prophet Mohammed in Kano

Yahaya Sharif-Aminu and his family are in deep trouble in Kano over an alleged blasphemous song he composed which was said to have portrayed Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

While Sharif-Aminu has fled Kano for fear of being attacked, his parents were said to have been in Police custody, as their family house have been set ablaze by irate youths who are displaying anger over his unapproved act.

The AUTHORITY reports that scores of angry youths matched into the Sharada headquarters of Kano state Hisbah Command on Wednesday to register their displeasure over Sharif-Aminu’s action.

The Commander-General of His an, Harun Ibn-Sina, who addressed the protesters urged them to remain calm and maintain peace as relevant authorities are currently looking into the matter.

He confirmed to the angry youths that already, parents of the fleeing blasphemer have been arrested by the police, adding that Hisbah and other agencies designed to handle religious issues will surely see to the root of the matter.

Spokesman of the protesters, Idris Ibrahim, strongly demanded for the prosecution of the blashemer so as to serve as deterrent to others.

The AUTHORITY gathered that Sharif-Aminu parents of the blasphemer have been arrested currently under police custody.

Yahaya Sharif-Aminu is alleged to have composed a song containing derogatory verses attributed to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The fleeing Sharif-Aminu of Sharifai quarters within Kano metropolis is said to be an ardent follower of the Tijjaniya sect, as well as a member of Faidha group who are known for their allegiance to Ibrahim Nyass, a famous Senegalese Islamic Scholar.
