Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has declared close the 2019 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Batch A exercise, with a charge on the set of corps members to make good use of the skills acquired during the programme.
The governor, who gave the charge on Thursday at the Passing Out Parade which took place at the Michael Okpara Square, Enugu, congratulated the batch on the successful completion of the service year and urged them to be good ambassadors of the NYSC scheme.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Hon. Uwakwe Azikiwe, Ugwuanyi used the occasion to commend corps employers for ensuring a peaceful service year for the set of corps members and pledged the support of his administration to the well being of corps members deployed to the state.
On his part, the Head of NYSC Governing Board and Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Enugu State, Hon. Vitus Okechi, said Enugu would forever remain grateful for the impact the NYSC scheme has made in the state.
The commissioner, who was represented by Mr Boniface Onovo, urged the passing out corps members to always allow the principle of peaceful coexistence to guide them wherever they find themselves.
Also speaking at the event,, the NYSC Coordinator, Enugu State, Mr Sam Ubi Ujogu, commended the state, local governments and corps employers for adequately taking care of the corps members.
He advised the corps members exiting the scheme to exhibit the discipline inculcated in them by the NYSC.
Highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the state Governor’s award to four corps members who excelled in personal Community Development Service (CDS) which they embarked upon at their places of primary assignments.
