By Adelola Amihere

The Coalition of Civil Society Groups says it has passed a vote of confidence on the service chiefs and the entire Nigeria Military for its dogged fight against countering insurgency in the country..

Speaking at a press conference yesterday in Abuja, the President, Etuk Bassey disclosed that its appraisal was an outcome of an unanimous position of over 500 representatives of various Civil Societies at a meeting it held to appraise the situation surrounding the call for sack of the service chiefs in the ongoing fight against the Insurgents, particularly in the Northeast.

According to him, the Group observed the efforts by the Military and results were clearly evident.

He said, “The incidences of bombs detonating at our Worship Centres, Market, Motor parks, Government buildings and other strategic places has disappeared and is no more a recurring event except for very few insignificant cases.

“The obvious fact is that the ugly incidences that overwhelmed Nigerians have seized to reoccur and we are happy for it, frequency of attacks was phenomenal in the past but that has become a history today since the coming of the present service chiefs, he said.

“Today we have witnessed high enthusiasm and confidence been expressed by the gallant solders in the battle field as instilled in them by the Commanders.

“We celebrate your gallantry, commitment and patriotism to your fatherland; the successes against the insurgent are testament to the capacity of the service chiefs, especially Lt Gen, Tukur Buratai the chief of the Army Staff.”

The Group therfore called on Nigerians to shun away from biased views motivated by ethnic, religious and political sentiments and instead support the military by providing useful information that can help them in the fight against terrorism.
