The United Bank of Africa (UBA) on Monday donated N28.5m (Twenty Eight million and Five Hundred Thousand naira) to Kebbi State to support the State Government in its effort to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in the state.
This is contained in a statement by Mallam Yahaya Sarki, Special Adviser to Gov. Atiku Bagudu, and made available to the Newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
While presenting the cheque to the Chairman of the Task Force on COVID 19, Hon. Jafar Mohammed (Clean) who is also the state Commissioner of Health, the UBA manager , Hamza Abdullahi Illo said UBA Foundation deemed it necessary to support Kebbi State Government on the fight against the pandemic disease.
Illo said the gesture was part of the bank”s corporate social responsibility to support the well-being of people in the state.
“As we are all aware, Covid 19 pandemic is disturbing the world and UBA Foundation deemed it necessary to support the fight against the disease, he said.
The Bank Manager in fulfilment of the banks commitment presented a statement of account where the 28.5m was deposited and a letter to chairman of the task force for onward delivery to Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
In his response, the Commissioner for Health and the Chairman of the Task Force on Covid 19, Hon. Jafar Mohammed (Clean) expressed appreciation to UBA foundation for the donation .
Muhammad commended the Bank for supporting the state in its trying period. He promised that the money would be judiciously utilized in the fight against Covid 19.
Similarly, in continuation of its effort to sensitize the people on preventive measures to take against Corona Virus (COVID-19) in the state, the Kebbi State Task Force Committee for the control of Corona Virus has embarked on sensitization and surveillance to ensure compliance with measures put in place by the State Government.
He said that the aim of the sensitisation was to ensure that people comply with the directives of the state government on the precautionary measures put in place to prevent the outbreak of Covid 19 in the state.
According to him, the Kebbi Medical Center, Kalgo has been designated as the isolation center on Covid 19 in the state.
Jafar emphasized the need by the general public to strictly practice personal hygiene, environmental sanitation and social distancing while reiterating that Kebbi state did not record any single case of Corona Virus in the state.
