The Federal Government has concluded plans to begin the distribution of medical equipment and consumables to states.
This is part of the efforts to support states combat Covid-19.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, disclosed this at a media briefing organized by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covid-19, in Abuja, on Tuesday.
The physical distribution of the items, he stressed, will commence immediately.
“I am pleased to inform you that as part of the support to the states, the PTF has approved the distribution plans for medical equipment and consumables available in stock to the states. The physical distribution shall commence immediately.
“This will be in addition to the Jack Ma equipment and materials already shared to the states.” Boss Mustapha, said.
He, however, warned that Covid-19 is not a joke, hence, called on Nigerians to take measures put in place by the government serious.
“I find it necessary to remind us all that this COVID-19 pandemic is not a joke and it is a global pandemic.
“I therefore renew the appeal of the PTF to all Nigerians to view it as such and comply with all advisories and directives in the interest of humanity,” he stressed.
The SGF, however disclosed that based on the assessment of the PTF on Covid-19, Nigerians have, to some extent, complied with the restriction order in most states.
“However, much more work shall be required in the creation of awareness among the people and securing the buy-in of stakeholders,” he noted.
He further revealed that, as part of support to states, the Federal Government has concluded plans to distribute medical equipment and consumables to states.
