A medical consultant at the State House Medical Centre, Also Rock, Abuja, Dr Seidu A. Bello, has urged Nigerians to adhere strictly to the directives from experts during the easing period of covid-19 lockdown to avoid escalating the pandemic in the country.
Bello stated recently in Abuja while addressing journalists that the easing of the lockdown, could turn out to be more dangerous for FCT residents if they breached the directives.
He during the lockdown period more tests were carried out especially among the rural poor and urged them to be careful in their activitirs to curtail the spread.
Dr. Bello however expressed concerns over claims that the corona virus vaccines had been discovered in the country, stressing that no vaccine or cure has been found yet all over the world.
He explained that discovering a vaccine was not a day’s business, adding that “many people may see vaccine as medicine to cure the pandemic, but there is no vaccine that can cure any virus. It can only work as a soldier to boost imune system and help in the recovery process”.
However he called for sacrifices to limit the spread of corona virus in the country, adding that, “government intends to contain the spread of the virus and to provide space, time and resources for an aggressive and collective action”.
He also advised the NCDC to implement a comprehensive public health programme that would emphasise case identification, testing, isolation and contact tracing capabilities in the states.
