The Pesident, Mzough U Tiv United Kingdom (MUTUK), Dr Shadrach Iornem, said the association was devastated by the loss of one of its most vibrant daughters, Late Mrs Martha Akiga.
This was contained in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mrs Salome Biam and issued to newsmen in Makurdi.
According to the statement, Akiga served the association in the capacity of Director of Socials.
“The news of her passing came as a shock and a very bitter pill to swallow, because anyone who knew her or even had the privilege of encountering her, experienced her vibrant, full-of-life energy and personality.
“She was always proud of her Tiv heritage and took every opportunity to showcase our beautiful culture.
“We express our deep and heartfelt condolence to the family of Chief Felix Akiga and the entire Akiga family over the untimely death of their wife, mother and aunty,” it stated.
It further disclosed that Akiga was a retired Secretary of the Nigeria Railway Corporation UK, the Managing Director of Royal Choice Inn Hotels, Makurdi and a successful businesswoman cum philanthropist.
It further stated that she was survived by her husband, Chief Felix Akiga, five children and a grand son.
“Our hearts go out to the immediate family and Tiv Nation as a whole for such a monumental loss,” it stated.
The AUTHORITY reports that Akiga died at age 56 in the United Kingdom on April 28.
