Gov. Alia lays foundation for BSEMA’s conference hall

Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia on Tuesday in Makurdi laid the foundation for the construction of the state Emergency Management Agency’s conference hall that would serve as the hub for all humanitarian activities in the state.

At the ceremony in the premises of BSEMA headquarters in Makurdi, Gov. Alia, represented by his Principal Private Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Chenge, said his administration is determined to provide a conducive environment to enhance partnership and development in the state.

The Governor maintained that, “the conference hall will not only facilitate the coordination of emergency response efforts but also serve as a platform for capacity building, knowledge sharing, and advocacy.This place would be a space where ideas would be exchanged, partnership forged, and solutions will be provided”.

Governor Hyacinth Alia commended the International Organization for Migration (IMO)for their partnership, stressing that the state government values the partnership with IMO and looks forward to further strengthen their collaboration.

“As we embark on this important project, we hope to finalize the support required from IMO for the successful completion of this infrastructural upgrade within the premises of SEMA in Benue State. The establishment of a situation room within this new conference hall underscores the critical need for enhanced coordination and response capacity”, the governor said.

The Executive Secretary, Benue State Emergency Management Agency, Sir James Iorapuu had earlier informed that, “the-state-of-the-art conference hall will serve as a pivotal hub for humanitarian affairs in Benue State, providing conducive environment for strategic discussion, capacity building sessions and emergency response coordination.

The ES said, “in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Sundai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, this facility will enhance the state collective efforts to build resilience and mitigate the impact of disaster on our communities”.
