The Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olanishakin has reiterated the determination of the military fighting insurgency across the nation toward addressing it even if it means their liver.
General Olanishaken made this known during the closing ceremony of the annual army day celebration which took place at the Faskari military super camp 4.
He said military have over the years been struggling to ensure the maintenance of peace in the country and that the struggle will continue until total peace is restored so that the wanton killing of innocent people and destruction of their belongings would come to an end.
According to him, there is no reason whatsoever for the lives of the people to be taken unconditionally by some few individuals while the authorities concerned fold their arms. “We in the military and coupled with instruction given to us by Mr. President will continue to discharge our constitutional responsibilities until we are successful and therefore we will not relent in the efforts. He also explained that the issue of banditry kidnapping and cattle rusting will soon become a thing of them past as they are fully prepared to face the challenges.
The CODSS further stated that with the full support they get from Mr. President in the discharge of their duties, particularly with regard to the insurgency they are hopeful that they will not disappoint both the president and the people of the country.
According to him, “we have already succeeded in getting rid of the informers who are the prime movers of the entire crisis; soon, we will also get into other group which intention is to breach peace.
In his remarks earlier the chief of defense staff, Lieutenant General TY Buratai narrated the military which is battling to an end the evil operation of bandits across north west zone of the country had succeeded severally in neutralizing a number of banditry activities and their supporters.” In our determination toward ridding the zone of crimes and criminal activities, we have destroyed a quite number of suppliers who used to supply the bandits with social needs such as food items and other things.
