Imo PDP chieftain lashes out at APC over pension crisis in state

From Everest Ezihe, Owerri

A chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo state, Sir Martin Ejiogu has described the Governor Hope Uzodimma led administration in the state as lawless regime following the reported physical assault by youths said to be APC apologists on protesting pensioners from the state

Ejiogu regretted that the government has kept quite on the attack against senior citizens of the state who were demanding for their right,

Ejiogu, who recently re-elected as the State Deputy Chairman of PDP told journalists in his office that some workers with Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO) out of overzealousness last Tuesday allegedly flogged some of the Pensioners who were protesting for non payment of their pension for months at Government House roundabout.

He pointed out that his political party as a major opposition party in the state has being constructively criticizing some of the anomalies of the present administration in the state but some people thought we are merely playing politics as against the reality.

According to him” this is a lawless government. This can only happen under anarchicalgovernment. Governor Uzodimma had earlier said he is unperturbed what people say about him and his administration. A Governor can afford to say this because he does not believe in the tenets of democracy if not, certainly he wouldn’t have said this.

“He is a beneficiary of Supreme Court judgement, thus why his government can afford to do certain things without remorse “he angrily alleged.

He frowned at the alleged throwing of sachets of pure water and flogging of the pensioners by the hoodlums demanding that as state government agents, the onus lines on the government to fish out the perpetrators and punished them accordingly, so as to act as a deterrent to others and restore the state government’s already battered image and credibility.

He accused the state government ‘Shared Prosperity’ administrative mantra of lacking vision and purposeful governance, saying that no sensitive government can afford to toil with the welfare of her workforce and that of the senior citizens.
