Bauchi first lady Dr. Aisha Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has tasked women across the state to venture into small businesses to boost their economic status.
She made the call at the maiden meeting of the Women in Business Forum organized by Mennonite Economic Development Associate (MEDA) held at Hazibal Suite, Bauchi.
The meeting which drawn women from seven local government areas of the state who are the beneficiaries, was facilitated by 50 million African Women Speak Platform Project, supported by the AFDB and Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.
While declaring the meeting open, Aisha Bala commended the giant stride of the (MEDA) for creating Job Opportunities for women and supporting them with capital to enhance their Business prospects particularly with those at the small scale enterprise.
She maintained that such programs which will no doubt go a long way in complimenting government’s effort in the area of poverty reduction and improve the living standard of women.
Noting that, the program was also in line with her pet project of Al’muhibbah Foundation that over the years being providing skill acquisition to women and youths not only in the state but in other communities around parts of
The first lady also commended the organisers of the meeting, and assures her total support to (MEDA) and other NGOs that are out to compliment government efforts in that direction.
In her remarks country project manager (MEDA) Mrs. Fosen Grace, had earlier appreciated the support of the state government towards the success of all MEDA programs and activities in the state, and specifically for providing them with office accommodation.
Some benefiting women applauded the initiative, and also appealed for more business support from government at all levels.
