Enugu Airport fence demolition an act of sabotage -Reps member

Member representing Enugu East and Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency at the House of Representative, Hon. Cornelius Nnaji, has expressed sadness over the demolition of Airport concrete perimeter fence by Arch. John Emejulu.

Nnaji who is the House Committee Chairman on Freedom of Information disclosed that the layout, Arch Emejulu is claiming was created and gazetted in 1984 by the Enugu State Government, stressing that a layout cannot be created on top of existing layout after 23 years.

Nnaji who made this known to pressmen in Enugu disclosed that the layout Arch Emejulu is claiming was created in1984 while the court judgement Emejulu was relying on to destroy government property was a 2017 judgement over a plot of land in the area in favour of one Alexandra Ifeatu, the plaintiff and Emejulu as the defendant.

Recall that Emejulu moved to the Airport with armed thugs and bulldozer on Wednesday and destroyed over 2km concrete perimeter fence of the international airport which was billed to be reopened on August 30th.

Nnaji charged Arch. Emejulu to present the court order which he claimed gave him power to demolish federal government property at Akanu Ibiam Int’l Airport, Enugu.

He also tasked him to provide the layout design and survey plan of the land in question and stop calling him all sorts of names, stressing that Emejulu was trying to grab community land which has been taken over by government for public interest.

To put the record straight, Hon Nnaji, said, “Arch JJ Emejulu always mention my name, that I am the person taking over his estate or property as he claimed. I want to state that there has never a time JJ Emejulu own a property at that Airport layout.

“The area we are talking about is Airport Road Extension layout and was owned by the people and was registered in 1984. I don’t know if you can have a layout on top of an existing layout. There are already an existing layout there. I wonder from which layout he is claiming. He mentioned Airport Road Layout Phase 4 and 5, my concern is that we need to see the licence of those who differentiate Airport Road Extension and Airport Road Layout 4 and 5. I want to say it categorically that JJ Emejulu doesn’t own a land that place.

“Secondly, the area we are talking is Airport Road Extension which I know that government took over for extension of Akanu Ibiam Int’l Airport and by virtue of land act, government owns every land. So, that land in question doesn’t belong to Emejulu that can warrant him going there to destroy government properties which all of us condemned in entirety.

“JJ Emejulu doesn’t have any court judgement. If he has a court judgement, he should produce the court judgement. Why is he hiding the judgement. Every court judgement has a surveyor plan and a document attached to it. That has been my question from the beginning.

“Nobody is arguing about court judgement, yes he may have a court judgement but let him produce the court judgement that has the surveyor plan which explained that this land started from corridor 1 to the end. A proper surveyor plan of the judgement will explain to us which one belong to him.

“Let him provide the documents and I can provide a counter documents to prove to him that he doesn’t have a land there and going there to destroy government properties with the effort of our Governor, Rt, Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is making to make sure the Airport meet Int’l standard is wrong.

When asked if was satisfied with the level of work at the Airport, Nnaji commended the federal government, Honorable Minister of aviation, Hon, Hadi Sirika and Governor of Enugu state, Rt, Hon, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for the good job they are doing to deliver the Airport on 30th of August.

Efforts to reach Arch Emejulu were not successful as his phone was switched off.
