From Maduabuchi Nmeribeh, Kano

The Chairman, House Committee on Works, representing Bichi Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Engr. Abubakar Kabir Bichi has described the proposed Light Rail Project of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s administration as people-oriented modern infrastructure designed to put Kano on the front-pew of emerging mega-cities in Africa.

The law-maker said the Light Rail project deserves commendation and support of discernable and patriotic Kano people who share the common vision of reviving, not only the commercial muscle of the ancient city, but also its admirable master plan and status as a modern cosmopolitan city.

He assured Ganduje of the full support of not only members of the National Assembly from the Kano caucus, but also the leadership of the entire two chambers.

Engr. Bichi added that, “we all support your light rail project in Kano state. We are supporting this good and people-oriented project hundred percent. We are only waiting for the issue to come up to the National Assembly, to give all our support to it.”

He spoke in Ganduje’s office on Friday when he led members of his Committee on a courtesy visit.

He said the Committee was in Kano as part of their oversight function, going round Federal Government projects being executed in the state and those projects linked to the state from other states.

He commended Ganduje for being a leading example in infrastructural development, pointing out that, “Your Excellency, all of us here are assuring you that whenever we receive anything pertaining your Light Rail project in the state, we will all accept and endorse it hundred percent.”

According to him, not only members of the House of Representatives would support Ganduje’s Light Rail project, “even members of the Senate Committee on Works and by extension, other distinguished members, they will support you Sir. We all know your commitment and dedication to serve your people.”

Engr. Bichi explained that members of the National Assembly always support Governors like Ganduje who show commitments towards taking their states to upper level in terms of infrastructural development and the overall development of the state and the people.

“Your Excellency, looking at how these Honourable members addressed you right here while introducing themselves, you will agree with me when I said, we all believe in your brilliant understanding of how to develop the state. Sir, I will take them round the state before we leave to show them how you developed the state,” he said.
