By Raph Izokpu

The Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) has opened a new command in Maitama district of FCT.

Jonathan Dawah, the Area Commander in-charge of the area, said opening of the new office was to help in tackling road crashes in the central area of FCT.

Dawah in an interaction with some journalists recently commended the management of FCT DRTS under the leadership of Engr. Wadata Bodinga for increasing number of commands in the territory to enhance sanity.

He noted that the command would tackle wrong parking of vehicles in some places such as CAC headquarters at Maitama and other locations in order to allow for free movement of traffic in the area.

He warned motoring public to desist from committing route violation especially during the rainy season just as he tasked motorists to desist from plying rickety vehicles on FCT routes.

The Area Commander reminded members of the public on the need to observe social distancing and make use of face masks while on transit, adding that violation of Covid-19 protocols would not be tolerated.

The officer cautioned Keke and Okada operators to abide by FCT traffic laws that restricted them from operating in Maitama and environs just as he implored motorists to cultivate the habit of renewing their particulars as at when due.
