Unity schools: FG commissions new projects at FSTC Orozo

Determined to shore up facilities in unity schools across the country, the Federal Government has commissioned various projects at the Federal Science and Technical College (FSTC), Orozo, Abuja.

Commissioning the projects at the weekend, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Sonny Echono, called on other unity schools to emulate the standard set by FSTC Orozo in delivery of the new facilities.

A statement made available to The AUTHORITY by Mr Ben Gong, Director of Public Relations at the Ministry said the projects commissioned include a five bedroom principal residential accommodation, two bedroom boys’ quarters, staff accommodation, classroom and landscaping.

The statement said the Permanent Secretary commended the Principal of the school, Mrs. Kenneth Grace for outstanding performances and service delivery in terms of infrastructural and human resource development as well as the overall academic performance of the students.

He urged the staff and students to make the best use of the facilities provided by the government to enhance their learning.

Earlier, the Principal expressed her profound appreciation for the opportunity she has had to serve in this capacity, noting that she has no regret whatsoever being the Principal of the school..

Rolling out the achievements of the school in terms of academics for 2018/2019 academic year, she revealed that the school came third in the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) examination nationwide.

According to her, FSTC was also among the best 50 schools in West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Speaking on the laurels won by school, the Principal displayed certificates of excellence and commendation from national examination bodies especially in the area of stenography where she said her school emerged the overall best, coming first in the National Examination Council’s (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
