The Nigeria Security and
Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), said it has deployed about 3,000 personnel across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to boost security during the 60th independence anniversary.
FCT Commandant of NSCDC, Mathias Ohiemi, disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing Journalists in Abuja.
He said the deployment of it operatives cover both the regular and undercover personnel to swiftly prevent and respond to any form of security breach in the territory.
Ohiemi, who resumed duty recently at the Command also cautioned those that are involved in vandalism or any act of criminality to desist from it, because if caught, they would be made to face the wrath of the law.
“We have deploy 3,000 personnel for this independence day celebration. And we will work in conjunction with other security agencies who are on ground to protect lives and property in the nation’s capital.
“We are assuring Nigerians and FCT residents in particular that they should be at rest knowing that we are on the field to protect lives in the territory.
“NSCDC advise parents to advise their wards especially within this period they should even check their movements around . There are certain areas that movement will not be permitted.”
