From Maduabuchi Nmeribeh, Kano
No fewer than 10 people have lost their lives, over 400 hospitalized after consuming poisenous juicy drink in the ancient commercial city of Kano.
On Thursday, a top health official at the State Ministry of Health confirmed to The AUTHORITY that 10 people had already died after consuming the drink, while 400 people are currently receiving treatment.
He said about 50 people have under gone dialisis for kidney dysfunction.
Also in a video released on Thursday, the state Commissioner of Health, Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, was sighted affirming the development, which he described as worrisome.
In that video message made available to journalists, Tsanyawa, cautioned residents against consumption of unregistered juices drinks, particularly, during the Ramadan season.
According to him, ”as you are aware, the Ministry of Health had in the recent past announced the outbreak of a strange disease traceable to the consumption of substandard juices.
“The consumption of these fake and substandard products have telling effects on the kidney, and vital organs of the body.”
