…As polls witness low turnout of electorates

The People Democratic Party (PDP) has won all electoral chairmanship and Councillorship seats at the Local Government Council elections across the 23 Local Government Area of Rivers, which was conducted at the weekend.
This as the election witnessed low voter turnout at the polling units across the LGAs.
In as much as the election was peaceful, there were also reported areas of minor electoral violence and shooting by suspected thugs trying to stall or mar the electoral process.
In Abua and Ahoada East, there were reported fracas between security operatives and hoodlums although the hoodlums were overpowered by the security agencies and election commenced.
In Onelga, and some parts of Port Harcourt City LGA, the turnout was very low with materials reportedly not sighted in many polling units.
In Bomu community of Gokana and parts of Andoni LGA, the residents in the areas witnessed continuous sporadic shooting starting from Friday till early hours of Saturday, day of the election.
Although the All Progressives Congress (APC) was not included in the ballot sheets but some of the party supporters supported the victory of the PDP candidates
In the results which was declared Sunday evening by the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electrical Commission ( RISEC) Justice George Omereji, PDP won the Emohua Chairmanship seat with a total of 93, 980, followed by
Labour Party which got 154 votes.
Others includes, Gokana LG, where PDP won with 54, 578. In Etche LG, PDP claimed the chairmanship seat with total votes of 27, 825, while in Eleme, PDP also won with 96,283
In Degema LG Chairmanship election, PDP won with 21, 223, in Bonny the party also swept the Chairmanship seat with total votes of 18,408. Asari-Toru LG also gave the PDP Chairmanship candidate a 63, 727, while Party won chairmanship seat with 54,883 votes.
The PDP candidate at the Governor’s local government, Obio Akpor swept the position with 287,347 votes, although the governor, Nyesom Wike did not cast his vote at his polling unit.
In Andoni, PDP won with 107,658 votes, the party also claimed the chairmanship seat at Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LG with 52,484 votes. Opobo Nkoro LGA chairmanship elections,
PDP won with 44, 434, had 34, 721votes to retain the chairmanship seat at Ogu Bolo and 53, 439 votes at Khana LGA
Oyigbo LGA gave the PDP 81,052, while in PHALGA the party won with 177, 47 votes. In Tai, the Chairmanship candidate of PDP also won with 53, 423. PDP also claimed the Chairmanship seat at Ikwerre, Omuma, Ahoada West
