A group, Divine Women of Purpose Association , DWOPA, has begun a multi million naira projects that would rehabilitate orphans, destitutes, abused women and girls in the society.
During the foundation laying ceremony of the project, founder of the Association and leader, Dr Ijeoma Chikezie said the three housing units plan was initiated to serve as a shelter for counseling, skills training, rehabilitation and reintegration of destitute women and girls to reality of self worth and value.
She explained that with the increasing cases of Insecurity across the country more measures needed to be taken to uplift those who thought they are forgotten and can serve as security threat.
According to her, the project which is located at Papaladna community in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa state, near Abuja is conceived as a transit home, where women and girls would be receiving succour from trauma.
Mrs Chikezie stated that the programme tagged Hope Alive Home also known as House of Love is a dream child of DWOPA, inspired by God for the purpose of uplifting the less previliged.
She said, “We know that every human being is unique, so our initiative is to help destitutes, abused women and girls maximize the potential in them through specialised trainings that will make them to be reintegrated into the mainstream of society”
The founder, popularly call ‘chief servant’ by her members, said the Association will be working with employers of labour, the NDE, banks and other well meaning Nigerians to make the vision sustainable and beneficial to the intended people, with a plan to build such centres across the country.
She solicited for support from people and corporate bodies to assist by providing equipment and necessary materials for the completion of the scheme.
However, the Association’s grand patron and guest speaker, Dr John Kennedy Opara commended the founder for her vision to impact positively on less the previliged, especially the women.
Opara who was represented by Mark Etowa, while performing the foundation laying, said God will provide for the project concerning its relevance.
Leaders of the host Communities, in their separate remarks pledged their commitment to provide necessary support for the programme.
