From Maurice Okafor,Enugu

The major objective of establishing government technical college(GTC) Ahani Achi,in Oji River local government area of Enugu state, is to impact practical knowledge of several skills that will enable the students to fit into various sectors of production or manufacuring after their basic education.

But for more than ten years after  the establishing of Government technical college Ahani Achi, the aim of tutoring the students on various skill acquisition processes is still a mirage due to lack of a functional workshop with faclities/equipments to guide the students on practicals.

The Principal of the college, Engr Richard Eze, lamented the poor state of facilities in the school when the newly elected national executive of Ahani Achi Development Union(ADU) led by Hon Kingsley Eze, special assistant to Governor Ugwuanyi of Enugu state, paid  a coutesy call to the college, in the cause of their facility tour of all establishments in the community.

The Principal of the college,Engr Richard Eze represented by Mrs Ézinwa Blessing told the delegation that the lack of the equipments and workshop has remained a pain in the nreck of the school authorities. She disclosed  that  products of the college are not yet participating in external exams such as Nabteb,Waec  etc because they did not under any technical training.

According to her, lack of science teachers also constitute the problem of Government Technical College,Ahani Achi. The implication of  the various lacks have affected the school enrolment ,as most of the students seek transfer tio the  better equipped colleges barely after spending a session in the college.

The principal appealed to both the state government, public spirited individuals, the host community efforts etc in overcoming  the technical deficits in the college, so thst it can live up to the expectations of training and graduating students with the basic practical experience in various fields.

Earlier in his speech, the President General of  Ahani Development Union,Hon Kingsley Eze,told the school authority that the purpose of the courtesy visit to the college is to itemise the problems of the college, with a view of seeking assistance from well placed individuals from the community, organisations and Enugu state government.
