Kano Consumer Protection Council MD Bags Award Of Excellence

The North-West chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) has conferred an Award of Excellence on the Ag. Managing Director of Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KCPC),  Dr. Baffa Babba Dan’agundi for his determination towards ensuring that Kano residents not only consume hygenic food and beverages, but also purchase them at regulated and affordable prices.


The recipient doubles as the Managing Director of Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA).
The Award was bestowed on him in collaboration with Nutrition Society of Nigeria (Kano chapter) in recognition of his immense contribution towards ensuring food safety in Kano.


While presenting the award, former National President Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology, Dr. Dahiru J.M Adamu described Hon. Baffa as a patriot who prioritize the safety of his people above everything else by ensuring that fake and unwholesome products unfit for human consumption are not allowed in the State.


According to him, since the emergence of Dan,agundi, Kano has witness a tremendous change in the fight against expired, fake and unwholesome products which were in every nook and crannies of the State leading to deaths and other health fatalities.


Adamu stated that the award couldn’t have come at a more better time considering the fact that Hon. Baffa from the beginning of the year till date has confiscated and destroyed such products worth over N2billion and the fight rages on.


He said that the two bodies deemed it necessary to appreciate the MD and encourage people of the State to accord him and the council with more support by providing relevant information needed to checkmate activities of those in the illegal business harmful to humans lives.


Receiving the award, Dan,agundi stressed that the Council will not relent on it’s mandate to rid the State of products considered dangerous to consumers’ health as more mechanism are out in place for effective delivery.


He said, KSCPC will not spare anyone caught in such business and would prosecute defaulters according to the laws of the State to serve as deterrent to others who aspires to go in that line.


Baffa recalled that since his assumption into office, the council has seized and destroyed uncertified, expired and fake products worth billions of Naira due to intensified efforts.
