Kano state, Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has urged philanthropists and corporate organisations to support Kano Pillars football club.
Ganduje, who has already pushed funds to boost the morale.of the administration and players of the club, declared that the time has come for philanthropists and corporate bodies to display Corporate Social Responsibility (CSP), to enable Kano Pillars FC attain greater heights.
He made the call when he received a donation of Bus Coaster to Kano Pillars from Abdulkarim Abdussalam Zaura (AA Zaura), who just joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the event took place at the premises of Government House, Kano, Sunday.
After expressing his gratitude to Zaura, he commended him further for fulfilling the promise he made on the donation, explaining that “we are very grateful that when you donated a bus to the Children’s Home, you then promised to bring another bus to Kano Pillars, Masu Gida. Thank you AA Zaura.”
Ganduje tasked other business moguls formulate Zaura’s gesture and show concern for the victory of Pillars football club.
“I hope other wealthy individuals will copy AA Zaura and contribute for continuous development of our beloved football club, Kano Pillars, Sai Masu Gida!
“So also corporate organisations should come forward and contribute to Pillars by way of corporate social responsibility. Pillars’ victory is a victory for all of us. They deserve all support at all times.”
Surayya Baba Aminu (Sai Mama) represented Kano Pillars Chairman, Surajo Shu’aibu Yahaya (Johnbull). While Rahaqu Adam, Pillars player represented his Captain, Rabi’u Ali.
After handing over the bus key and documents to the governor by Zaura, he (governor) handed over the key to the representative of Pillars, Rahaqu and vehicle documents to Sai Mama, in the presence of Commissioners, Special Advisers to the Governor and many Pillars funs, who converged at Government House to witness the grand celebration.
In his brief remarks, Zaura hailed Ganduje for his support to youth development and unrelenting commitment in making sure that, youth become forces to be reckoned with in his administration.
“We always feel encouraged that His Excellency our father sees reason in making youth becoming relevant in his people-oriented administration. This is something that youth should appreciate and reciprocate for the development of the state.
“I am assuring His Excellency that we are not stopping from here, we will continue with such kind of gestures,” he added.
Pillars Chairman representative, thanked Zaura for the donation and explained that, “Zaura is copying from Baba Ganduje’s relentless effort in making sure that sports development becomes one of the cardinal feats in his regime.”
