Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Saturday administered staff of office to Ambassador Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa, confirming him as the new Emir of Rano.
This followed the demise of the former Emir of Rano, Alhaji Tafida Abubakar Il (Autan Bawo).
The occasion which took place at A.A. Rano Stadium on Saturday, attracted the presence of the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Abubakar Sa’ad II.
Ganduje who insisted that the newly created four Emirates of Gaya, Karaye, Rano and Bichi have come to stay, declared that, “those saying when they come back to steer the affairs of the state, they would dismantle all the new Emirates, they should know that, these Emirates are on solid foundation.
“I will also not say anything apart from praying to Almighty Allah not to even give them that chance of coming back to captain the affairs of the state; not to talk of achieving their anti-people intention.
“We are thanking His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto for coming to grace the occasion. This shows your good concern for the development of our dear state. And that of our traditional institutions in particular.
“So also all other Royal Fathers, our respected Emirs, who came from different locations of the country, to also bless our occasion. We thank all those who came from far and wide places.”
Ganduje reiterated his reasons for the creation of new Emirates in the state, pointing out that, “as I have been saying at many occasions, we created new First Class Emirates in Kano because of three major reasons.
“First and foremost, because of historical reasons. Secondly, because of people’s quest for it and thirdly because we have resolved to expand the role of our traditional institutions in the development of the state.”
His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar Sa’ad II, however, appreciated the gathering and expressee happiness for their ability to attend the ceremony.
He adding that, “we are grateful to Allah for giving us this chance to be here. We are happy that we are here to congratulate one of our own.
“I am, on behalf of all traditional rulers, congratulating the new Emir of Rano. We also pray for Allah to give him all the necessary support to discharge his duty diligently. And we should all endeavour to discharge our responsibility with the fear of Almighty Allah.”
The newly coronated Emir, Ambassador Inuwa, thanked Governor Ganduje for making it possible him to climb the throne of the Rano Emirate, adding further that the return of Rano Emirate in the midst of other Emirates wouke ever remain evergreen in the sands of history.
According to him, “we are commending His Excellency, the Governor of Kano state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who, along with our Honourable members of the Kano State House of Assembly, worked together to bring back our glory.
“We are equally thanking His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, for being here himself to grace this historic occasion. We are thankful to him for according us the pride that deserves the Emirate. We are thankful to our Royal Fathers who came from different locations in this country.
“We are very thankful to members of the National Assembly and State Assembly who are here for us. We equally thank all those from the business community, our friends who are here with us and those who came from other places.”
In an emotional-ladden message to his subjects, the newly crowned Royal Father said: “I was chosen from among you, not because I am better than you. If I obey Allah’s Path, obey me, if I erred call my attention to what is better. May Allah continue to protect our fatherland against any form of violence, poverty and all other bad things.”
