The Board of the National Hospital Abuja, have said that its decision on the appointment of the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) of the hospital is based on the overall interest of the patients.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Spokesman of the National Hospital, Dr. Tayo Haastrup, in Abuja, Friday.
The statement, however, debunked media report on the matter.
According to the statement: “The attention of the Board and Management of National Hospital Abuja has been drawn to an online Publication of the Vanguard Newspaper of 23rd June 2021.
“The writer was biased and the report is not a true representation of what transpired on the appointment of CMAC/DCS in National Hospital Abuja. It is an effort to pre-empt the decision of the Board on this matter as the publication came out before the decision of the Board.
“The Board at its 24th Meeting of June 2021 successfully deliberated on the appointment of CMAC in line with the extant law.
“In arriving at their recommendation and resolution, the Board considered the election of the MDCAN, interview conducted by the Board, performance of the three candidates and the power conferred on the Board by the extant law on the appointment of CMAC/DCS.
“The decision of the Board is in the overall interest of the patients which is the primary assignment of the hospital, staff, Management and the Nation in general.”
