Just In: Kano Assembly Suspends State Anti-Corruption Chairman

From Maduabuchi Nmeribeh, Kano

At last, the Executive Chairman of   Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission,  Bar. muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado,  seemed to have been caught in a dangerous web as Kano State House of Assembly on Monday slammed a one month suspension on him to enable him clear himself of allegations of  abuse of office.

The AUTHORITY gathered that Magaji was suspended for rejecting an accountant sent to him by the state’s Accountant General.

His immediate suspension came in the heels of  a letter of complaint against him sent to the House by the Accountant General’s Office.

According to the letter, the Chairman allegedly appointed a grade level 4 as the Commission’s accountant, contrary to the state Act.

The majority leader of the House, Alhaji Labaran Madari, on Monday, urged the House to hand over the case to the House Committee on Anti-corruption for investigation and action.

However, the House leadership gave the Committee two weeks to complete the investigation and present the report.

The AUTHORITY reports that the Kano anti-corruption Czar has been in the eye of the storm in recent times as several fingers are raised against him over issues bordering on alleged corruption and abuse of office.

He has, however, insisted that his hands are clean, maintaining that corruption is fighting back.
