GPMI Advocates More Funding For Police

The Federal Government has been advised to increase the budgetary allocation of the Nigeria Police Force in order to enhance the effectiveness of its officers and men.

This is contained in a press Statement issued on Wednesday issued at the end of human rights training the trainers’ conference in London.

The statement signed by the President General Global Peace Movement International UK, Dr Mike Uyi said authorities concerned should improve the funding of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the provision of adequate and effective working materials and other logistics.

It also called for the training and retraining of officers and men of the force and all other agencies involved in the administration of justice and maintenance of law.

It urged authorities and other relevant agencies to protect the rights of officers and men with improved conditions of service, pension and insurance.

Expressing concern over the current security situation in the Country, Dr. Mike Uyi urged Nigerians to support the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, in his determination to address the security challenges facing the country, with a view to ensuring safety of lives and property.

He noted that the Nigeria Police under the leadership of Usman Baba Alkali is capable of curbing all the security challenges confronting Nigeria.

” Global Peace Movement International commends the concerted efforts of the Nigeria Police Force in ensuring adequate security and safety of life and property throughout the Country”.

“We commend the commitment and dedication of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force in crime prevention and detection, most especially in the area of visibility policing which he observed has led to drastic reduction in crime and criminality in the country. He promised that the group will continue to partner with the Force”.
