2023 Presidential Elections: Kogi Lawmaker Kolawole, seeks support for Yahaya Bello

The Kogi State Speaker, House of Assembly has called on the Northern States Legislators Forum and all northerners in general to support Governor Yahaya Bello for presidency come 2023 elections.
He made the call in a meeting of the Forum in Abuja on Thursday.

The lawmaker in his speech stated that although the south is also clamoring for same, the north has not led as long as the south.

After exhaustive deliberations, a communique was issued signed by Rt Hon Abok Nuhu Ayuba, speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly; Hon Tijjani Mohammed Aliyu, Majority Leader, Bauchi State House of Assembly; Hon (Barr) Bashir Mohammed, Member, Taraba State House of Assembly; Rt Hon Ben Mngutyd and Hon Abubakar S. Abukur, Katsina State House of Assembly.

The meeting was attended by four delegates each from eighteen (18) states in the Northern part of the country.

Rt Hon Matthew Kolawole spoke to the youthful energy and requisite cognate experience possessed by Alhaji Yahaya Bello which is much desired for the development of our country, Nigeria.

The communique reads thus, “That every legislator should go back home with a view to advocating and consulting his or her constituents and stakeholders on the presidential aspiration of Governor Yahaya Bello.

“That  Governor Yahaya Bello is competent and indeed has cognate experience for the exalted office, the meeting therefore called on him to consult wider across the country.

“That the meeting reviewed the rotational presidency as advocated recently by the Southern Governors’ Forum; however, the Northern Legislators believe the rotation of the presidency should be in favour of the Northern part of the country. This is because from 1999, southern part of the country has ruled the country for 14 years while the north will be 10 years at the end of the President Buhari’s tenure in 2023.

“That a National Working Committee be constituted with a view to having wider consultation on the Governor Yahaya Bello presidential aspiration across the country.”
